The origins of EVB date back to 1910, when Southside Bank and Bank of Northumberland first opened their doors to the communities of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula. They became part of the Eastern Virginia Bankshares holding company when it was formed in 1997. These institutions established a legacy of community banking that continues today, more than 99 years later. Hanover Bank joined Eastern Virginia Bankshares in 2000, completing the family of community banks now known as EVB.
